Geoff Baker has the responsibility for operations and finance of the Group. He joined ASF Group after practicing extensively for 25 years as a lawyer in Australia, Japan, Asia and China. Geoff is a qualified lawyer in Australia and Hong Kong with a Commerce degree (Accounting and Financial management), a Law degree and MBA.
Over the past 10 years Geoff has been active in China conducting a practice in assisting companies do business in the region focused on corporate services and inward investment where he has been actively involved in opening offices and investing in building businesses in the region. Geoff Baker has represented many companies from around the world in operating successfully in China and dealing with the regulatory regime and obtaining all necessary ministerial approvals. Geoff also operated for some years as a CEO of an Australian Investment Bank that specialized in mergers, acquisitions and fundraising. It operated across various industries including specializing in overseas companies operating in Australia and investment in Asia, China and Japan.
In 2002 Geoff came to China to set up the Beijing office of Deacons, Lawyers and assisted in the development of their practice in China. Geoff's involvement in these wide-ranging fields and major projects has required him to work closely with many international companies and to develop a clear understanding of how business and Chinese government departments can work together to deliver beneficial and commercial outcomes.
He is a director of a number of companies (listed and private) and has been a businessman in China and Asia for many years.
