China Hua Neng Group (“CHNG”) is one of China’s five largest energy and power conglomerates. The company oversees the national government’s interests in 10 subsidiaries, including a 51% stake in Huaneng Power International. Through its subsidiaries, CHNG develops and operates more than 85 thermal and hydro power plants. In addition to its power-generation business, the company aims to enter other sectors, including finance, transportation, information technology, and renewable energy. In 2008, CHNG expanded its global footprint acquiring Singapore-based Tuas Power from Temasek Holdings for US$4.2 billion. In 2011, the Company acquired GMR Infrastructure’s 50% stake in US-based InterGen. CHNG also has interests in two power plants located in Queensland.
